In order to issue degrees, Yenepoya Medical College is associated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore, which was founded in 1999. In 1999, a group of 100 MBBS applicants was accepted. After receiving approval from the Medical Council of India, postgraduate programmes in seven departments were launched in 2005. In 20 departments, the Yenepoya Medical College is currently offering postgraduate courses.
In accordance with notice number F 9-11/2007 U-3 dated February 27, 2007, the Yenepoya Medical College was designated as a constituent college of Yenepoya University (Deemed-to-be university under section 3(A) of the UGC Act 1956). With effect from the 2011–12 academic year, the Medical Council of India granted the College permission to enrol 150 students to the MBBS programme.
